About Me

I’m Julie Miller, an artist based in the Scottish Borders. My work is largely shaped by where I live, the landscape, changing seasons, and the quiet details you notice when you spend time outdoors.

I primarily work with mixed media, enjoying combining materials, textures, and processes to see how they interact. Allowing the work to evolve naturally rather than forcing a fixed outcome from the start.

Much of my practice is about observation and response. I’m interested in how places hold mood, memory, and movement, and how those elements can be translated through mark-making and material choices. The work is intuitive but considered, leaving space for imperfections and small surprises along the way.

My aim is to create pieces that feel calm, honest, and rooted in their surroundings, work that rewards slower looking and feels connected to the landscape it comes from.
